Piedmont Regional Disabilities Services Board
PRDSB
"Serving the needs and priorities of individuals
with physical and sensory disabilities"
Due to budget cuts at the State level, funds were eliminated for funding of staff support.
The PRDSB will no longer be active after June 30, 2009 until funding is restored.
The purpose of the PRDSB is to be an advocate for persons with disabilities. The PRDSB also provides input to state and local agencies on service needs and priorities of persons with disabilities. The PRDSB can provide information and resource referral to local governments regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act, and provide such other assistance and advice to local governments as may be requested. The PRDSB meets quarterly and is comprised of members from each participating locality. The PRDSB also receives a small amount of local funds from all seven participating counties; Amelia, Buckingham, Charlotte, Cumberland, Lunenburg, Nottoway and Prince Edward. The PRDSB has been successful in funding small local projects to assist persons with disabilities that otherwise would not receive assistance. These projects include wheelchair ramps, a chair lift, scholarships for programs, and a donation to the Southside Home. Anyone interested in receiving assistance may contact Melody Foster at (434) 392-6104. (Funds are limited and are provided after a board review of the project). |
